Carnegie Cooke Releases Wagering Results from Breeders' Cup World Championships
Las Vegas, NV, October 30, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE)
Carnegie Cooke & Company, Inc. (PINK SHEETS: CGKY) Carnegie Cooke under its Brazilian brand betBrasil enjoyed a successful premier of the first-ever pari-mutuel simulcast of the Breeders Cup World Championship in Brazil on October 25th and 26th, using the opportunity to pre-launch the new betBrasil off-track agency in Niteroi city.
Ads were featured on the web (http://www.jornaldoturfe.com.br/brasil/index.htm) and in print using a two-tiered marketing approach; one for turf wagering enthusiasts, Jornal do Turf and the other Jornal dos Esportes, a sports daily with a substantial pool of new fans of American horseracing.
More than 1,100 wagers were placed between Carnegie Cooke wagering facilities in Niteroi, Campos and its affiliate agency in Macae over the course of the two-day race event; with in excess of 75% of all wagers placed on the Monmouth Park races. The two-day handle of over $10,000 USD (ten thousand) was the highest ever since Carnegie Cooke began operations in Brazil.
Juan Laguer, Vice-President of Technology who traveled to Brazil to oversee wagering operations during the event stated, "We received a great-deal of positive feedback on providing real-track odds and no-limits on payouts for premium content. That is something that the patrons were not used to. We expect that our wagering revenues in Niteroi will surpass those that we've seen in Campos as we continue to add more top quality tracks; and continue marketing our competitive dominance. When it becomes clear to the horse-betting population that at a betBrasil agency you can win more for less, they won't want to spend their money anywhere else."
